RISE-Severn:

Routine ICU Sedation holds - an Evaluation and improvement of practice in Severn

STAR is pleased to announce it is running an exciting regional ICU project looking at sedation hold practice across Severn - please see attached PDF advert for more information and to express interest.

  • Why?

National FICM/ICS GPICS guidance recommends that all sedated, I&V patients on ICU should be considered daily for routine sedation holds as appropriate, with evidence suggesting that titrated sedation burden can improve outcomes

  • How?

STAR in collaboration with University of Bristol Society of Anaesthesia and Critical Care (UoB-SACC) will be running this regional baseline audit of sedation hold practice across hospitals in Severn, with potential future QI initiatives and reaudit

  • Who?

This is an opportunity for those interested in audit/QI to get involved in being a local lead for this project in their ICU, while supervising post-final exam 5th year medical students with data collection and helping improve patient care

All local leads will be recognised for their contribution with a certificate and on any future presentation/publication of the project.
